837D Dental Claim Transactions

This session will cover changes to the 837D Dental Claim format and 835 Claim Payment/Advice transactions. It will also include information about the new 999 transaction and a high-level overview about the Companion Guides that contain Alaska Medicaid specific transaction requirements.

Appeals

Introductory course discussing the basics of the appeals process and the various levels of appeals for denied or reduced payment of claims, denied or reduced service authorizations, recoupment of payments, covered services, and disputed admissions and continued stays. The course includes discussion of when to appeal, where to send appeals, and the documentation requirements (i.e., medical justification, proof of timely filing). Appropriate for beginning level staff and staff involved in billing and completing appeals to Alaska Medical Assistance.

Care Management Program

Introductory course discussing the basic components of the Care Management Program. The course includes the purpose of the program, information on referring recipients into the Care Management Program, and the eligibility coupon. Appropriate for beginning level staff and staff involved in billing and verifying recipient eligibility.

Review of program rules and procedures specific to billing for Chiropractic Services.
Claims Management

Introductory course discussing Remittance Advices, Resubmission Turnaround Documents, and claim edits and claim resolution including duplicate claim denials. The course includes an overview of the information provided in Remittance Advices and responding to Resubmission Turnaround Documents. Additionally, course will cover common denial edits and the resolution of pended and denied claims. Appropriate for beginning level staff and staff involved in billing claims and reconciling Remittance Advices from Alaska Medical Assistance.
Companion Guides and Testing Requirements
