Payerpath Covered & Non-Covered Days Reference

Effective 01/01/12, electronic Medicaid claims must conform to the new Federal HIPAA 5010 standards. Submitting the correct covered and non-covered days information on inpatient hospital, nursing facility and long term care facility claims is critical.

The fields where covered and non-covered days is entered has changed on Payerpath. You used to enter the number of covered days in field 7 and the number of non-covered days in field 8. Now you need to use fields 39, 40 and 41.

Alaska Medicaid has prepared a "Quick Reference" guide to assist providers that use Payerpath to submit claims electronically. Click here to view this helpful aid.

Diagnosis Codes 5010 Quick Reference and Tips for PayerPath 5010 Available

Effective 01/01/12, electronic Medicaid claims must conform to the new Federal HIPAA 5010 standards. These standards require all claims to contain an ICD-9 diagnosis code. Diagnosis codes are a required field in the 5010 transaction formats. If you do not submit one, your claim will reject and it will take longer for you to get paid.

Alaska Medicaid has prepared two "Quick Reference" guides to assist providers in transitioning to the new ICD-9 diagnosis codes. These two guides, as well as the 5010 Companion Guides and other documents are available at http://www.medicaidalaska.com/providers/hipaa/hipaa5010_Companion_Guides.shtml.

A mandatory diagnosis code is just one of the changes resulting from HIPAA 5010.

Training modules have been developed to assist providers with the transition to HIPAA 5010. The training schedule and presentations are available at http://medicaidalaska.com. Select the Training tab, then Schedule or Materials.
